Personalization of Prints - What It Is and How to Use It
Personalization of prints is the process of customizing printed content to individual needs by applying variable data to a pre-prepared graphic. This allows each print to contain unique information, such as names, serial numbers, barcodes, or QR codes.
Types of Personalization
- Variable Text
- Names, addresses, contact details based on a database.
- Numbering
- Serial numbers based on a numerical range or database.
- Barcodes and QR Codes
- Containing variable text or numerical data.
- The type of code should be specified in the order.
- Variable Images
- IDs and badges.
- A database and images in the appropriate format are required.
Guidelines for Preparing Files for Personalization
To ensure the personalization process runs smoothly and with the highest quality, appropriately prepared materials must be provided:
1. Print File
- Design in PDF format compliant with the specifications of the ordered product.
- The file should contain empty spaces designated for variable data.
2. Personalization Template
- File in PDF format with identical dimensions as the print file.
- The template must show an example of personalization, considering the longest variables (e.g., longest surname, address).
- The font style and size should be chosen so that all variables fit within the designated field.
3. Data for Personalization
- Database: Prepared in an MS Excel sheet or as a text file (for simple, single-column databases).
- Numbering Range: Provided as a range "from"-"to" or specific numbers.
- Barcodes: Specify the type of code and its content (text or numbers).
- Images: In the case of variable images, files must be provided in the appropriate format according to the instructions.
4. Fonts
- Include the font used in personalization.
Preferred fonts are True Type or system fonts (e.g., Arial, Times New Roman, Monotype Corsiva). For these fonts, it is sufficient to enter the name of the font used in the template.
NOTE: Check if the selected font supports Polish characters.
