Prototypes are printed using digital technology and are not intended for color approval. They are only used to assess whether the box folds correctly, has the appropriate rigidity, and whether the design is properly aligned with the die-cut. Due to differences in printing technology, colors in offset printing may differ from the prototype. The option to create a prototype holds the execution of the order until it is approved by the Client.

Pillow box

A pillow box is an elegant and exceptionally functional packaging that, when assembled, takes on a characteristic, convex shape resembling a pillow. Its streamlined form makes it look extremely aesthetically pleasing and attracts attention, while remaining practical in use. It is ideal for packaging small products, textiles, jewelry, accessories, clothing, cosmetics, or promotional gifts. Combined with appropriate finishes (e.g., matte foil, soft touch, gilding, or selective varnish), they make an impressive premium-class packaging that highlights the product's value and brand prestige.

Our boxes are an economical and convenient solution with the option to order from a few pieces to several thousand pieces.  

We offer printed cardboard boxes, produced on GC1 boards and on decorative papers with a weight of 200–400 g/m². These are lightweight materials, usually smooth and excellent for printing, ideal for small and medium packaging. Due to the properties of the cardboard, the maximum dimensions of the packaging are approx. length/width 150-180mm, height 50-90mm. If dimensions too large or too small are entered, the calculator will inform you.

Pillow boxes are perfect as gift, promotional, and retail packaging – especially for packaging textiles, clothing accessories, corporate gadgets, small cosmetics, or accessories. Due to their elegant appearance and simplicity of folding, they are often chosen for packaging holiday or promotional products. 

Packaging is the first encounter a Customer has with your brand, it should say more than a thousand words. Printed cartons emphasize the brand's character, distinguish the product, and build a positive Customer experience – from the first glance to the final choice.

Technical parameters of pillow boxes

Box construction

Construction glued on one side, creased, with characteristic curved edges giving the box a pillow shape when folded. The sides are closed with flaps that slide inside, creating an aesthetic and stable closure without the need for additional gluing. The profiled die-cut in the shape of an arc allows for the natural bending of the cardboard, giving the packaging a characteristic, soft shape and maintaining elasticity after folding. The construction ensures convenient opening and closing, and when folded, it occupies minimal space.  This box model corresponds to the standard construction found in the industry catalog: ECMA F70.01.00.00.A

Printing technology

The calculator supports two types of printing technology: digital printing on Ricoh Pro C9210 and offset printing on Heidelberg Speedmaster SM52-4 Anicolor. Both technologies provide high printing precision, and the calculator  allows comparison of both technologies in terms of available enhancement and finishing options. This enables the user to match the technology to the specifics of the order, taking into account the requirements for print run and type of finish.

Varnishing: selective UV varnish, 3D varnish

Metallic finishes: Liquid Gold, Liquid Silver

Personalization

There is also the possibility of personalizing the print with variable data.

Cutting options

Plotter cutting – for low volumes for short and medium series (without repetitions), test batch, or prototype.

Die-cutting – for medium (with repetitions) and high volumes, ensuring fast and economical production of a larger number of copies.

Delivery

Pillow boxes are delivered flat, glued on one side. 

Recommendations/notes

  • We recommend laminating prints on coated papers due to the possibility of cracking on creases. 
  • Due to the properties of the cardboard, the maximum dimensions of the packaging are approximately 140 mm in height, 60 mm in width, and 120 mm in length.
