Binding | We offer following binding methods:
- Saddle Stitching ((creates a squared off back)) >>
- Perfect Binding >>
- Punching Holes (for ring binders) >>
- Hardcover (see the description below)
Both perfect-bound and saddle-stitched finished books can be 2-4mm smaller due to necessity of trimming book edges after binding.
If you do not choose any binding method you will receive separately printed and trimmed covers and complete sets of trimmed and collated inner pages of your publication.
Booklets with saddle-stitch binding are trimmed only on the edge parallel to the bound side. Other edges are brought in line only by jogging which can result in slight (up to 0.2mm) shifts between pages.
In case of saddle-stitch binding creep occurs which means the inner sheets of inserted signatures move away from the spine affecting image and text area.
If you decide to punch holes (for ring binding) in your publication then as a cover we take 2 sheets of paper (one on the front, one at the back) trimmed to the size of inner pages. Whole set (inner pages together with a cover) is 6mm hole punched..
PLEASE NOTE! If you need imposition other than used as default in D&D (for perfect binding or saddle stitching), please describe it precisely in remarks to your order.

Hardcover | Rigid, colour cover for books and albums laminated with print on adhesive paper, designed by the customer. The cover surface is refined by laminating with glossy or matte foil. Cover cardboard thickness - 2mm.
Suspended in hardback:
- blocks with hot glued spines (as in a paperback cover);
Hot-glued blocks consist of a single sheet with the book contents and are glued in a gluer (like with paperback covers).
The first page of the book is glued to the end sheet over an area of about 4 mm.

Additional Information | Unlike in offset technology (used in traditional printing-houses), in laser printing paper is exposed to the high heat which can result in slight paper shrinking and curling that can be visible on a book spine.
Due to economic reasons our books in some sizes are printed on short grain paper which can result in slight curling and shorter durability of a cover. If you want your book to be bound according to the art of bookbinding standards, please contact our customer service for price quoting.
