Labels

Sizes
Final Trim Size
Finished label cut according to your order (cuting lines).
Full Bleed Size
Your artwork file has to consist of two pages: first with your job in full bleed size and second with the cutting lines.
Bleed
The artwork area that goes beyond the trim lines/score marks The size of the bleed should be 2 mm on each side.
In case of shapes other than rectangular do not fill with the background whole working area - only this 2mm bleed. Rest of the working area leave white.
Single Label
  • labels can take on any shape
  • Important elements should be placed at least 3 mm from the designed trim line.
  • Do not design frames, borders, etc. near the cut line (leave at least 5 mm). It is essential to allow some leeway for trim movement, otherwise printed pieces may not look aesthetically pleasing.
Cutting Template
Cutting TemplateCutting line should not have roundings with radius smaller than:
- 3 mm - for 3D dome stickers
- 6 mm - for magnetic labels
Cutting line should be drawn with a single closed curve.
Project cutting lines with a hairline (width) in black colour (100%K).
In order to save cutting time:
- use straight lines instead of curves wherever it is possible,
- use only as few nodes as needed to draw the curve,
- cutting lines cannot overlap.
When projecting the cutting line try to avoid placing its beginning and ending points on the curve - it looks best when you put them in the middle of the straight line.

3D Dome Stickers:
- Due to the physico-chemical properties of the polyurethane resin, please prepare 3D Stickers of regular shapes - circles, ellipses, rectangles, squares, polygons or other regular shapes with rounded corners.
- Irregular shapes, sharp corners, concave shapes, etc. increase the workload, so increase the price stickers and extend the date of realization. In such cases, we will have to increase the price i extend the deadline for this kind of order!

After projecting the cutting lines, please save them on the separate page within your artwork file or in second, separate file.

PLEASE NOTE!
Trim lines should consist of a minimum number of vertices necessary for the creation of a required shape and ungrounded increase in curve vertices results in slowing down the plotter operation.
If it turns out that the curve complexity causes excessively slow plotter operation, the job will be stopped due to an incorrectly prepared file.

Graphics
Colour Model
Prepare your artwork in CMYK model (except for artwork with additional colour). If your artwork contains halftone images (textures, photos), convert it also to CMYK.
Using different colour spaces or colour models in one document (e.g. CMYK and RGB) leads to incorrect colour rendering and is not covered by warranty.

When defining your own CMYK colours, the total tonal value at one point should not exceed 300% (for one-side coated cards, 200% should not be exceeded on the uncoated side, and, in particular, placing saturated solids in the same place on the face and back of the printed piece should be avoided). If this parameter is exceeded, no warranty claims shall be accepted. (The above mentioned rule means, for example, that black cannot consist of four 100% components.)

For printed materials to be laminated, the total tonal value at one point should not exceed 250%.

For 3D stickers, total CMYK tonal values may not exceed 200% coverage!

Rich Black
In order to obtain rich saturated black use 33%C 33%M 33%Y 100%K.
Gray Large Solid
If you want the background to be grey, compose it of the 'K' component only, without using the remaining 'CMY' colours.
Tone Gradation
To avoid visual bands, add some noise to your gradation.
Optimum Resolution
Optimum resolution for bitmaps (graphics, photos) is 300dpi.
Layout
Please set texts and any important information (graphics, photos) at least 3mm from the edge of a page (in actual trim size) and from scores for folding.

In case of saving your artwork as CDR file, please group all the objects and convert all fonts to curves/paths.
In your file please define your artwork size in accordance with above mentioned size and place your artwork centrally on a page.
If you save as EPS file the artwork which has no background (white), please frame it to above mentioned size.

Due to cutting tolerance some slight movements in relation to artwork edges may occur.
For that reason we recommend to avoid those kinds of framing where such distortions could be visible.

By default utilities are reversed "Head to Head".

Transparent labels
Important exception to be noted when preparing a file for printing
Prepare your artwork using the White colour technology described below.
For transparent labels, CMYK print (without underprint) is also an option. Depending on their specific application and the desired effect, you can design the colour print as CMYK without underprint, with underprint or as White only.

Depending on the manner of application, labels should be prepared in a standard layout (for on-the-surface application) or as a mirror image (for under-the-surface application).

WHITE Spot Colour
Preparing file for printing with White Only spot colour or White + CMYK.
For white print or white underprint for CMYK colours, you need to prepare a spot colour and call it 'White' in the file. The easiest way to create this colour in your graphic software is to lift it, using the eyedropper tool, from a sample prepared by us in the following file: White.pdf
Graphical elements printed in white colour must be placed over CMYK graphics in your artwork and must be set as Overprint (the colour must be 'overprinted').

However, you can prepare your own spot colour palette.

To adapt your graphic tool for easy, quick and reliable design of spot colours, read the following instructions:

Prepare your artwork using the White colour technology described below.
For transparent labels, CMYK print (without underprint) is also an option. Depending on their specific application and the desired effect, you can design the colour print as CMYK without underprint, with underprint or as White only.

Please note:
With small fonts and other elements slight misalignments in registration may be visible.

Preparing additional Liquid Gold/Silver colour
Liquid Metal – metallic film available in: Gold, Silver, Red, Green, Blue

Liquid Metal spot colour should be prepared in the same way as spot varnish. Prepare additional page(s) and apply areas for varnishing in one colour (K100%). The image for spot varnish must not contain greyscale. Even the slightest or brightest greyscale elements get automatically converted into black and will be varnished.

Please note:
Varnishing and using Liquid Metal effect is not recommended for elements thinner than 0.4 mm in the negative and 0.6 mm in the positive. Minimum recommended font size is 10 points, the distance between individual elements must be at least 0,5 mm. Liguid Metal effect may be shifted up to 0.3 mm in respect to printed elements.
Designing Liquid Metal effect up to bleed and on scores is not recommended because the metallic film may crack/chip off near edges and scores.

Liquid Metal is a printed colour. For that reason, to maintain registration precision (0.3 mm), do not remove/cut background graphics out of your CMYK artwork. The page containing background design should not include repeated mask elements.

When Liquid Metal is used on bigger elements/solids, the coating may be uneven.

It is possible to use Liquid Gold print, Liquid Silver print, and UV spot varnish on a single artwork page, but care must be taken to correctly describe the files and keep the right order to avoid any confusion (see below).

Liquid Gold, Liquid Silver spot varnished elements should be at least 0.6 mm apart.

For pulp-coloured card, Liquid Gold, Liquid Silver and spot varnishing is not allowed to bleed.

Please note!
If metallisation is to be applied on labels, individual files should be zipped into a single folder before being sent to us. The name of each file should clearly describe the content: print / metallic colour 1 and/or metallic colour 2 / mask for trimming and a preview file to demonstrate the expected final result.

Files must be zipped before they can be attached to the job.
Additional Information
Please remember: if the artwork contains text, it must be outlined before saving or the file must be supplied with the fonts that were used in the artwork.

When saving to a PDF file, set the graphics to high resolution. Save your PDF files as PDF/X, PDF/X-1a or PDF 1.3 (Acrobat 4.0.)

Save PostScript files as composite files.

For complex projects with multiple layers, overlapping graphics, shadows, transparencies etc., as far as possible, flatten to a single background image, retaining texts, logos, lines and other important elements of the project in the vector form only. In particular, this problem concerns CorelDRAW X4, where in extreme cases, despite a good-looking PDF file, the printout may contains errors.

PLEASE NOTE!
Please, don't leave (save) planned cutting lines in the printing file!

Additional Information
Please keep in mind that due to differences in printing technology and colour presentation, some differences in colours may occur also when compared to inkjet printouts or colours displayed on a computer screen.
